Your ring is made to last —

Every MAC Crafted Ring is made from rescued vintage cutlery — cleaned, shaped, and polished by hand. While our rings are tough, they’re still jewellery, and all jewellery needs a little love over time. This guide will help you understand what they’re made of, how to care for them, and how to keep your piece looking its best.

🔍 What our rings are made from

Our rings are handcrafted from vintage stainless steel or silver-plated cutlery sourced from op shops and antique stores across South Australia. Here's what you need to know:

  • Stainless Steel
Strong, tarnish-resistant, and perfect for daily wear. These rings can handle water, knocks, and regular use without losing their shine.

    Our go-to for long-lasting, low-maintenance rings.

  • Silver-Plated
These start as base metals coated in a thin layer of silver. Over time, silver plating can fade with friction or exposure to water and chemicals.

Best for occasional wear, or for those who love a vintage look that evolves with time.

📌 Not sure which type you have? If your ring was priced at $40, it’s stainless steel. If it was $60, it’s silver-plated.

🧽 How to care for your ring

A few simple habits go a long way:

  • Take it off before swimming, showering, or working with chemicals (especially for silver-plated rings).

  • Avoid harsh cleaning agents or alcohol-based sanitisers.

  • Wipe down with a soft cloth after wear to remove oils or residue.

  • Polish occasionally with a non-abrasive jewellery cloth (microfibre) or something like Autosol to keep the shine up.

💡 If your ring ever loses its sparkle, you can always reach out for advice or a repolish — we’re happy to help.

⏳ A little wear tells a story

Because our rings are made from vintage cutlery, they may already have small imperfections — that’s part of the charm. Over time, you might notice:

  • Stainless steel rings develop a soft patina from daily use (which can be buffed out if you prefer a polished look).

  • Silver-plated rings may fade or expose the base metal underneath — creating a worn-in, antique look.

Every ring will age differently based on your lifestyle. Some people love the story their ring tells over time — others like to polish it back to day one. Both are valid.
